Our mission: To build community through joyful, accessible, immersive chamber music performances.
Arpeggione brings classical music into our community by playing familiar and lesser-known masterpieces in chamber arrangements. We perform on historical instruments with an awareness of social and musical contexts of the past to highlight what is timeless and universal about the music we play and affirm each listener’s integral place in a shared artistic journey. Our guiding principles of accessibility and inclusivity are woven into the fabric of our ensemble.
Arpeggione is a BIPOC- and woman-led organization at the forefront of historically-informed music. Drawing inspiration from the groundbreaking salons led by women in the past, we aim to expand the horizons of our musical repertoire and create a thriving, inclusive community that resonates with the legacy of those who dared to break boundaries.
Our values:
Everything that every one of our listeners thinks and feels in a concert is just as much a part of the experience as the notes we play— no matter what their musical background or knowledge. In this way, we are not recreating the past, but creating a totally new experience together with our listeners.
Respect our listeners
We strive to create an atmosphere where our musicians feel valued and safe to take artistic risks. That’s when music happens.
Respect our musicians
Chamber music expresses timeless, universal emotion, and we believe we need to make our programs accessible to everyone in order to continue to grow musically. We perform our unique programs for audiences who would not normally be able to experience live music.
Promote accessibility and inclusion
We perform works by underrepresented composers, highlighting their influence to tell a more complete story of the past and who we are today. Finding ways to make our programs accessible and receiving the valuable feedback of underrepresented audiences guides our artistic direction.
